Electricity Carbon Intensity
The
green line shows the declining carbon intensity of UK grid electricity as projected by BEIS up to 2050.
Sadly, Building Regulations and SAP continue to use out-of-date figures for grid carbon intensity that discourage the transition to low-carbon heating technologies based on electricity.
The current SAP figures (shown in
red dotted line above) are more than twice the current electricity grid intensity.
The correct figure to use would be half way into the full life of a ground source heat pump installation – which can be expected to last for 40 years.
